fyut.bg.FreeBSD.org

This is the long-awaited official page of fyut.bg.FreeBSD.org — the machine that provides the Bulgarian FreeBSD mirror's web, FTP, CVSup.
It is located at theFaculty of Mathematics and Informatics of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.

The server Fyut is named after a small devil Fyut, who is a hero in the books of the Bulgarian writer Elin Pelin. We also provide hosting for the BG FreeBSD project.

The idea for the project began 2.5 years ago and after 6 months of planning, fund and hardware raising we went online on June 3rd 2005.

Little by little the configuration was extended to today's levels by self-funding, individual donations and donations from companies.

Currently we're operating with 2 GB of memory, 2 TB of RAID-6/RAID-5 storage and the 7-stable FreeBSD release series.

Fyut fundraiser campaign 2007

Thanks to the fundraiser organized with Open Projects Foundation we raised money for the
purchase of a Areca 1120 8-port PCI-X SATA RAID Controller and 5 500GB SATA2 disks to ensure smoothless operation for the next 2 years.

About this page

This page was created initially by Dimitar Vassilev in August 2007 during a clean-up session, after two years of operation and many discussions what to put on the page and where exactly.
Excited, Pentchev made a new version, put some XHTML marks and Dimitar reworked all together.

Thank you for reading this short story and enjoy!
